|Island children visit SMOE, and experience Seoul|
During the afternoon of Feb. 4th, Superintendent Moon invited a group of children from the islands, who were currently visiting Seoul to encourage them to pursue their dreams and talents, no matter where they are.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education visited 10 students and 6 teachers from Jeonnam province, Jindo-gun, for a 4-day 'Seoul Educational Experience Trip' from Feb. 4th ~ 7th.
The students invited come from Daema Island, Geocha Island, and Gwansa Island, where there are only 2, 5, and 3 elementary students respectively on the entire island.
This program is an extension of the a similar program last year (2013) where SMOE cooperated with Gyeongsangbuk-Do Ulleung Education Support Center to increase awareness regarding Dokdo, and invited 137 students from Ulleung to Seoul.
The students arrived in Seoul on Feb 4th (Tues) and visited the SMOE, Seoul Itaewon Elementary School, as well as other educational institutions; various cultural outings such as Bukchon Hanok Village, Gwanghwamun, Cheonggye Creek, Gyeongbokgung; and city landmarks such as the Seoul N tower, Jamsil Lotte World, MBC Broadcasting Station throughout their 4 day trip, and will depart from Seoul on the 7th (Fri).
SMOE plans to expand their cooperations with other areas of Korea to offer diverse programs to their students, and will continue to support all students in their cultivation of dreams and talents.
